MATTEO DE CAMINADA [he-him], *15.01.2001, is a interdisciplinary artist from Bolzano, Italy, currently based in Vienna, Austria. His practice is rooted in sculpture, yet it maintains an ongoing dialogue with media art, architecture, and other disciplines. Through his personal platform, mdc000_, he explores creative projects and curatorial initiatives, using it as both a conceptual space and a framework for experimentation.
STATEMENT "
My artistic practice is deeply rooted in my personal and social experiences, drawing from my strong queer identity, moments of trauma, and profound emotional introspection. I continuously analyse and question my surroundings, allowing my work to offer a nuanced and critical perspective on the world around me. My nonconformist and unconventional mindset compels me to challenge outdated social norms and behaviors, using my art as a tool for critique and reflection.
I engage with multiple media, often integrating different materials and techniques, with a primary focus on sculpture. My practice sometimes positions me as a mediator between the object and the viewer, fostering interaction and dialogue.
Through my creations, I seek to subvert entrenched social conventions, dismantling restrictive ideologies and advocating for a more inclusive, progressive, and equitable society. My work is an ongoing exploration of identity, perception, and resistance. An invitation to rethink the structures that define our collective existence.
